The Garcia Theater Project is an exciting opportunity for Aiken County students to explore and develop their talents on stage. The project is coordinated by Public Education Partners, USC-Aiken and the Public School District of Aiken County. We are pleased to announce the date for the fifth annual Garcia Theater Project is scheduled for Friday, May 8th 2009.

Each school is asked to perform a play as well as attend workshops with theatre professionals and learn about the Department of Visual and Perfroming Arts at USC-Aiken. Drama is an important form of expression and communication. Students who participate in the Garcia Theater Project develop speaking and presentation skills, self- confidence and a sense of teamwork. Like all the arts, drama requires students to envision excellence in performance, and to work toward a finished product of which they can be proud. Students and schools are recognized for their outstanding effort at the conclusion of the festival.
The 2008 GTP was generously sponsored by The SC Humanities Council, RCS Corporation and the American Association of University Women, Aiken Chapter. In addition USC - Aiken donates the use of the Etherredge Center and the time and talents of their performaing arts faculty and students.
